We just love reading! We have been enjoying a wide range of genres and writers from all backgrounds this year. Reading without boundaries has been our slogan and we want to have a balance between speed and understanding. Writers like Daniela Kohl, Erin Hunter and J. K. Rowling are just some that captured our attention this term. Des Weiteren werden die Malachite nach den Herbstferien die Gelegenheit erhalten, die Online-Leseplattform Antolin zu nutzen. To dive into the world of our senses, we started with the wonderful taste experience of `dinner in the dark´. Under the motto of risk taker, trust, courage, curiosity and reflection, we explored how life would be without sight and thought about how we use other senses to support us. A few weeks ago, we had representatives of My Finance Coach come to us to tell us about finance. We learned how to “treat” money, what to do with it and how others need it and use it. In curiosology class, Neptune, Uranus and Saturn were then allowed to choose what to make and do for this project. A few made their own money, made a play, song or a talk or prepared a presentation about the history of money etc. After that we would need to present it

This term in HSU we have been exploring the role of media in our lives and asking ourselves ‘What is media?’, ‘What is it used for?’ and ‘How does it support us or influence us?’. We also looked at the role of newspapers and learned how a newspaper article is created. We then created our very own newspa...

Topaz has been busy exploring our latest HSU topic grain. Together with Ms. Kozlova and the help of our handy projector, the children carefully examined different types of grains, the growing process, the harvest calendar and machinery used to turn grain into flour. We learned all about how a plant becomes the food on our plate and everything in between.
