PT English Sessions

In our PT English sessions we have delved into the world of the ‘Mr. Men and Little Miss’ books. After reading some of the stories together, we put together character profiles and identified the most important details about plot and setting. By this point we were excited, inspired and ready to write our very own stories of Mr. Men and Little Miss characters going on adventures - and misadventures - together!
After many lessons spent brainstorming, planning, writing, illustrating and editi...

World Map

In HSU this term, our theme was maps. We had to learn how to read different types of maps, how to follow them, and how to draw our own types: we even created our own planet with countries and capital cities. To celebrate Europe Day on May 9, 2019, our fourth graders had the difficult task of drawing a European map on the chalk wall in the Oasis. By using a projector, chalk and energetic Opal and Malachite fourth graders, the job was done in no time. We learned how to work together and understood...

Outdoor Activities

Although the sun wasn’t shining as much as we’d like, we took advantage of sunny moments to do sports outside and practice our waveboard, skateboard, basketball and street racket skills. Luckily, indoor sports never fail to be a highlight for our learning partners, either!

Burghausen

The highlight of this term was the three-day trip to Burghausen with the Malachites. With their newly acquired knowledge of maps and orientation, the learning partners were very interested in looking at our location on the map and finding out as much as possible about the travel route. We thoroughly enjoyed the camp activities, including a scavenger hunt, a swim in the lake, T-shirt styling and very a popular disco. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience for everybody.

Probeunterricht

We are extremely excited to announce the test lesson (Probeunterricht) results for this school year: of 36 grade 4 children who participated in the test lessons for secondary school (3 of which for Realschule), 94% have passed successfully!
We are extraordinarily proud of our Jules Verne children! We’d like to congratulate all of the children who passed and can now attend their secondary schools of choice. Only about 6% of our children gave us the news that they didn’t achieve passing gr...

The Senses

The Jade class has been learning all about the senses and really enjoyed our blind tasting event in the Oasis. We tried a variety of both familiar and less familiar foods by first exploring these foods with our sense of touch or smell before finally tasting them and considering the sometimes strange textures and new flavours.
The fresh basil, spicy horseradish and the exotic fruits were an interesting surprise!

Baking up a Lemon Storm

Shortly before Easter Holidays Topaz took a trip to the neighbouring Jugendfarm for a bread baking and lemonade making fieldtrip. Blessed with a warm and sunny day, Topaz took advantage of the weather and stayed outdoors most of the time. Together with our wonderful guides, we got our fingers sticky and kneaded the bread dough. As we left the dough to rise some of the kids learned how to start and upkeep a safe and plentiful fire, while others gathered delicious herbs, squeezed lemons and mixed ...

Writing – Emerald

Over the last few weeks, the Emeralds class have been writing their own stories about the water cycle during their English lessons. They had to imagine that they were a form of precipitation and write about the adventures that their water droplet, hailstone or snowflake went on!
Once they had written their fantastic stories, the Emeralds class created their own story books. The books are aimed at younger children so we now have a wonderful collection of colourful, informative books in our cla...
