The third grade Amethysts have buddied up with the Pearls for a weekly tandem reading partnership.
The “Reading Buddies” programme was kicked off this year by the Amethysts writing a letter to their younger buddy and reading it aloud to them. The third graders then read a story to their Pearl buddy, solidifying their own fluency while modeling literacy skills. Die Smaragde unternahmen im vergangenen Monat einen spannenden und interessanten Ausflug in die Boulderwelt am Ostbahnhof. In einem brandneuen Parkour konnten die Kinder sich Herausforderungen mit unterschiedlichen Schwierigkeitsgraden stellen. Sie nutzten den Ausflug auch um sich untereinander besser kennenzulernen und als Lerngruppe zusammenzuwachsen.

Ganz nach dem bayerischen Lehrplan starteten unsere Lernpartner das neue Lernjahr mit dem Themenbereich Fitness und Gesundheit. Inhalte des Sportunterrichts waren Trainingsformen zur Verbesserung der allgemeinen Kondition wie Kraft- und Ausdauer sowie Entspannungstechniken und deren positiven Auswirkungen auf den Körper.

Despite the rain these last few weeks, the learning partners have remained in good spirits and were extremely enthusiastic about doing the sponsored run to raise money for children in Mongolia. They did their very best, and we are very proud of them. The group was very pleased to hear that a lot of money was raised for the worthy cause. Well done to the Opals and to all the learning partners!

Die Smaragde haben den Aktiv-Spielplatz der Jugendherberge unsicher gemacht, sind zum Bouldern gegangen (wobei sie die Trainer dort ganz schön ins Staunen versetzten) und haben sich am Stockbrot-Backen versucht.
