The Vikings – Emerald Learning Group

During this term, we have learned that the Vikings lived in a longhouse which was very smelly, dirty and cramped. The air inside the longhouse was smoky because they did not have windows as it was too cold outside. Instead, they had one small opening in the roof in order for the smoke to go out. The whole family lived together in one room and in the winter, their farm animals also lived with them in their small, cramped houses! We made 3D models of their longhouses and some of them can be found on display in the Entrance by reception.
