Our grade 3/4 learning partners have been exploring the topic of empathy and what it really means to “take a walk in someone else’s shoes”. To demonstrate empathy, our Emeralds have learned to consider what factors may be influencing how someone thinks, feels and acts. In the Emerald group, we challenged ourselves to reflect on our own “stories” including our desires, fears and goals. After sharing and building upon each other’s ideas, we put our creativity into action by designing our own shoes and a representation of ourselves. As you take a walk with the Emeralds, we hope you will feel inspired to show empathy by considering the qualities and experiences affecting each person in our Learning House, in each unique pair of shoes.
